Driver training & assessment

The council's one-day course and multiple-choice test, run by Worcestershire County Council — how to book, what to bring and how the result fits in.

Timing: Book early — dates fill up and your application won't be processed until you've passed.

What it is

A one-day training programme followed by a written multiple-choice test, operated for the council by Worcestershire County Council. Topics include safeguarding, disability awareness, plying for hire, licence conditions and a face-to-face English assessment. The course and test are in English only.

How it works

  1. 1Book directly with Worcestershire County Council using the link below. The fee is paid to them per attempt.
  2. 2Bring your original photocard driving licence, proof of your National Insurance number and your booking email.
  3. 3The council currently states the training and assessment must be passed within three attempts and used for an application made within twelve months; an application won't be processed until it has been passed, and you must email the council when you pass if you applied first. [A][B]
  4. 4Booked is not passed: your application needs the pass, not the booking.

Common mistakes

  • Arriving without the original photocard licence or NI proof.
  • Assuming 'booked' counts as 'passed' on your application.
  • Letting more than twelve months pass between passing and applying.

Requirements change and can depend on your circumstances.
